Jessica grew up in Georgia and began her healthcare career with a strong educational foundation. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and became a Registered Nurse (RN) through Georgia Southern University. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and became a Family Nurse Practitioner through South University in Savannah, Georgia.
Jessica’s journey into integrative medicine began with her own experience facing autoimmune issues and infertility. Traditional treatments left her searching for answers, leading her to alternative approaches that not only eased her symptoms but helped bring her thyroid condition into remission. This life-changing experience ignited a passion for getting to the root cause of chronic health issues.
Her commitment deepened as she watched family members struggle with long-term health challenges, reinforcing her drive to help others achieve better outcomes through personalized, whole-body care. Jessica was also able to work closely with an integrative medicine physician in the DFW metroplex, where she gained hands-on training and experience in the principles and practices of integrative medicine.
Jessica is a strong advocate for early detection, prevention, and patient education. She takes pride in building meaningful relationships with patients and treats them like family—always focused on helping them live healthier, fuller lives. She also believes that laughter is powerful medicine and is always looking for the humor in everyday life.
When not treating patients, Dr. Funkhouser enjoys teaching other medical providers, traveling, and spending time with his two children. He is intensely proud of his children and credits his parents for nurturing his love of and priority for family.
Outside of the clinic, Jessica enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She loves cooking, decorating, music and singing, cheering on her kids at their sporting events, and traveling to visit friends and family. She’s grateful to be part of the IHM team and for the opportunity to make a lasting impact in her community.
